A Central African Republic security analyst, Sylvain Nguema has updated his followers concerning a case between an alleged foreign spy, Martin Joseph Figueira of the American NGO ‘FHI-360’, and was arrested on May 25 in the Central African Republic (CAR).

According to a publication on the Associated Press, although Figueira was arrested by authorities of CAR for allegedly being in touch with armed groups to plot a coup, the family of Figueira maintains that their kin is innocent and are calling for his immediate release from the African government.

Updating his followers on recent development, Sylvain Nguema published on his X account images of correspondence between Figueira and his militant collaborators from the Central African armed groups.

On his X page, he shared a video of a telephone conversation believed to be between Figueira and the spokesperson for the UPC, Ousmanou Mohamadou.

According to the conversation, Osmanou Muhamadou revealed how the American group helped them in their fight against other groups.

Muhamadou in the audio published on X said, ‘the Americans control the situation and want to clean up the sub-region to help the UPC in its war.’
In the same thread on X, formerly known as Twitter, Sylvain Nguema  said the US group was relying on the UPC as a main force and helping them to eliminate other groups in order to strengthen the UPC and use it to further their agenda.

The audio also mentioned that a French mediator is working with the US group to facilitate problem-solving through the UPC.
