PRESS RELEASE: "The Appointment Of An Interim Council Is Purely The Responsibility Of The Council Of Elders"

Following the latest development in the Convention People's Party, the Council of Elders has described the decision to declare a Vote of No Confidence on all National Executives as an affront to the dictates of the CPP constitution and hence nullified the decision.

In a press release signed by the Vice Chairman of Council of Elders, Senior Comrade Christian Yao Zigah emphasized that, "the appointment of an Interim Council is purely the responsibility of the Council of Elders."

He, therefore, called on all members and sympathizers of the Convention People's Party (CPP) to remain calm as the council will resolve all these matters in due course.

PRESS RELEASE

My attention has been drawn to a press release by Kwame Nkrumah Botsio (Secretary, CPP Interim Council) to the effect that the National Executives have been removed by the National Executive Council (NEC) and that an Interim Council has been appointed to take over the affairs of the party.

I, Senior Comrade Christian Yao Zigah, as a Representative of the Council of Elders at that meeting (as a constitutional requirement) witnessed all that happened at the said NEC meeting and wish to inform all members and sympathizers of the Convention People's Party that the said NEC meeting which was supposed to have nullified the position of National Officers was carried out without due process as per Article 82 of the party's Constitution and therefore null and void. The voluntary resignation of some national officers at the NEC meeting is purely their personal decisions and is therefore valid as such.

I therefore call on all party members and sympathizers to ignore the said press release. I wish to remind all party members that at any rate, the appointment of an Interim Council is purely the responsibility of the Council of Elders. All should remain calm, and the council will resolve all these matters in due course.

Long Live the CPP!!! Forward Ever! Backward Never!

Signed:

Senior Comrade Christian Yao Zigah, Vice Chairman of Council of Elders

CC: To all media houses
